Exciting Times for New Goviers Owners

Global Luxury Brands (GLB) is excited to announce that they are to acquire the iconic mail order china and giftware business, Goviers of Sidmouth.  Simon Willis, owner of GLB and Alan Morgenroth, owner of Goviers of Sidmouth, first met in 1994 when Simon was Sales & Marketing Director of Royal Crown Derby.  Over the next 25 years Simon and Alan worked closely together as supplier and customer and also as friends who share a common appreciation for quality products and outstanding customer service.  Over that 25-year period Goviers business grew spectacularly with Royal Crown Derby, as well as within the field of Royal and general commemoratives, for which Goviers has become renown worldwide.

When Simon left Royal Crown Derby in 2013 and set up GLB little did he think that just over five years later, he would be acquiring one of the UK’s leading retailers of commemoratives and giftware. When Goviers of Sidmouth Limited moves to Staffordshire in July we intend to continue to support the same high quality brands and hope to provide the knowledgeable and friendly customer service for which Goviers have become renown.

Simon says, “When the chance to acquire Goviers of Sidmouth came up, following Alan’s decision to retire from the business, it was something we felt we were destined to pursue.  Having worked closely with Alan on Royal Crown Derby for almost 20 years and seeing the other wonderful brands that are a key part of the business, it was an opportunity too good to miss.  We very much want to carry on the business in the style that has made Goviers what it is today, but will try to inject new ranges where appropriate as well as developing the online business and would welcome discussions with new suppliers.  This is a hugely exciting move for Janet and I and we hope that it will allow Alan to enjoy other business interests safe in the knowledge that we will nurture and continue to develop what he has built up over the past 34 years”

Alan says “I have personally known Simon in a professional capacity (and as a friend) for over 20 years and I can think of no better person to maintain and expand the Goviers of Sidmouth mail order business. Although it is my intention to ‘retire’ from the industry to pursue other commercial interests, I will be offering my support and expertise to Simon as required, to ensure the ongoing success of Goviers of Sidmouth.”
