Steiff Margarete Teddy Bear 175th Anniversary

The story of Margarete Steiff is filled with fairytale quality that grew to become the world's most famous soft toy company. Responsible for the Teddy bear, the world's most favourite soft toy. Margarete was born in 1847. At 18 months old she contracted polio, she was to spend her life in a wheelchair. This remarkable woman became a skilled seamstress. Little did she know she was laying the foundation stone for the international company of the future. Celebrate Margarete Steiff's 175th birthday with this elegant Teddy bear. She wears a double tied bow with a cameo in a matching colour of the first company logo of 1897. Margaretes signature and date of birth 24.07.1847 are detailed on her paw pads. Made of the finest mohair, 5 way jointed, with gold plated 'Elephant Button in Ear'.
