Moorcroft the Sleeper | Made to Order

MC75/10TS

£995.00

The name of the dormouse has the same origin as the French word dormir which means 'to sleep' and colloquially the dormouse is known in Britain as 'the sleeper'. Remarkably, they can spend as much as seven months of the year asleep. Designer, Vicky Lovatt’s adorable sleeper, with tiny toes tucked into his warm hazel coat, is tightly curled up at the neck of the vase, hidden within the russet-toned thicket.  On the reverse of the vase, a startled dormouse will soon settle down to feast on the late summer hazel-nuts that deck his woodland home.

`You might just as well say,' added the Dormouse, who seemed to be talking in his sleep, that "I breathe when I sleep" is the same thing as "I sleep when I breathe"!' - Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll.
