Moorcroft The Protector Plaque

Framed with dark, sooty feathers, a female short-eared owl keeps her piercing-yellow eyes, which reflect the intense hues of the canary-yellow Bog asphodel plant, fixed and alert for anything that may attack her two chicks. To add to the owl’s hauntingly beautiful eyes, staring out from a pale facial disk, this short-eared owl and her chicks hold their wings tucked in neatly behind almost invisible ear-tufts, making them appear more like apparitions. Enchantingly, this design conjures up a sense of mystery, excitement, and with the fluffy chicks, a touch of affability. Come dawn or dusk, the short-eared owl’s shrill, hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo lets all know that she is The Protector.
