Moorcroft Snowdrop and Winter Aconite

A ray of hope comes from a pool of buttery sunlight that shimmers on the floor as Winter aconite, Eranthis hyemalis, bring cheery colour at a time when borders can look bare. The bright, golden yellow flowers, cluster around the base of this little jug like a host of regal green ruffs, as if to will the sun’s rays to grow a little stronger. Nestled among the feet of dainty snowdrops, they take the flower penned by Wordsworth as the Lone Flower, hemmed in with snows and white, and allow the snowdrop to joyfully wave like a triumphant flag, celebrating the arrival of Spring.
