Sands End in Fulham was the definitive site of De Morgan’s ceramic and tile works. Relocating there in 1888, he designed his own custom kilns and entered his most prolific and experimental period, pushing the technical and artistic boundaries of this work.

Nicola’s Sands End brings together several of his favourite themes. Graceful cranes, a glowing sunset, and fish swimming below combine to create a harmonious connection between sky and water. Reflecting De Morgan's love of nature and mythical imagery, the design is brought to life in a rich palette of blues and greens—Nicola's favourite colour combination—which enhances its sense of tranquillity.
