Moorcroft Rose Legacy Vase

MC7/15L

£5,230.00

In Moorcroft designer Emma Bossons’ masterpiece, Rose Legacy, she brings together seven different roses that botanical artist Henry C. Andrews brought to life with his fine paintings around two hundred years ago. Amongst the blooms are Rosa eglanteria 'Lutea', Rosa spinosissima ‘Nana’, Rosa spinosissima var. luteola – each of which brings a kaleidoscope of colour. Around the base of this prestigious vase Rosa × centifolia holosericea tumbles, while above it Rosa eglanteria 'Lutea', Rosa spinosissima ‘Nana’ and Rosa spinosissima var. luteola both draw your eye upwards due to their lightness and brightness. Cascading around the central part of this limited-edition vase, a flash of exotic colour comes from Rosa eglanteria ‘Lutea’ whose bright orange and yellow petals are a dramatic contrast to the deep, rich wine colour palette of Rosa × centifolia purpurea that caresses the rim of the vase.

Throughout the design a myriad of unfurled rose buds can be discovered, waiting to open when the blooms already fully on display start to wane. Such is the cycle of life. Art imitates life as Emma pays homage to Andrews, not only a botanical artist but an engraver too, whose numerous fine art works are housed in the RHS Lindley Library in London for future generations to enjoy.

Each of the seven roses in this prestige vase were illustrated by Andrews in his book ‘Roses: or a Monograph of the Genus Rosa’ Volume 1 or 2 (London, 1805-1828). Around two hundred years since Andrews first created his masterpieces, Moorcroft pays tribute to this English botanist with its collection of rose designs, each created to continue his legacy and love of floral art.
