Millefleurs was created by Arts and Crafts designer John Henry Dearle between 1912-1914 and was made at the Merton Abbey Works from Jacquard woven wool. Millefleurs is a pattern of flowers and leaves used in tapestry, porcelain or in other decorative items. In each of Emma's vases a bouquet of tiny flowers in one of the primary colours, blue, red and yellow, are set against a jet-black background.
