Designed By Kerry Goodwin
Ltd Ed 10
Jane Austen’s cottage in the village of Chawton had a charming garden together with beehives, a kitchen garden, an orchard and a shrubbery. Writing to her sister in May 1811 she described it as “very gay with Pinks and Sweet Williams, in addition to the columbines already in bloom. The syringas, too, are coming out….” Kerry’s design features both pale pink pinks (carnations), together with bi-coloured red and white Sweet William – with a soft Regency blush coming from the delicate lilac (syringa).
